The River City Mixed Chorus is one of the crown jewels of Omaha’s community of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people and their allies.
Omaha PFLAG wants to help support plans for the chorus to travel to Montreal next July to perform at an international festival of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses. You are invited to attend an old-fashioned ice cream social on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Cary Hall at First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass St.
Jean Mayberry will provide home-made ice cream. There will be other mouth-watering desserts. Chorus members will provide entertainment.
There are no tickets. Just come. All the money from a free-will offering will go to the chorus. If you can bring a dessert or if you plan to attend, please RSVP to Betty Dorr: bobcdorr@aol.com or 333-7064.
*At our Nov. 13 support meeting, we will hear about a Family Service domestic abuse program and about plans that organization has to develop a program for the GLBT community. The meeting, as always, will be in Mead Hall at First United Methodist Church. Come at 6:30 p.m. for coffee and socializing. Support time will begin at 7 p.m., with the program at 8 p.m.
