PFLAG Omaha visit to see the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s traveling exhibit at Temple Israel – May 20
Posted: Tuesday, April 22, 2008

PFLAG Omaha has a wonderful opportunity to see the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s traveling exhibit, “The Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals.” The exhibit will be at Temple Israel located at 7023 Cass St. (across the street from First United Methodist Church, and just west of the Omaha Community Playhouse).

The organizers have invited PFLAG members and supporters to see the exhibit as a group, and we have arranged to meet at Temple Israel at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20. A docent will tell us about the exhibition and start us on the tour. The exhibit consists of 32 panels, each with lots of text. Just come. You don’t need to make reservations.

If you are tied up on May 20, you still can see the exhibit, which will be open to the public any weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from late April until June 9.

For more information on the exhibit visit: http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/article.php?lang=en&ModuleId=10005143 and http://www.ushmm.org/museum/exhibit/online/hsx/

MCC Omaha Prom - April 5
Posted: Monday, March 24, 2008

Metropolitan Community Church-Omaha will hold its Second Annual Prom from 8 p.m. to midnight April 5 at the downtown DoubleTree Hotel, 1616 Dodge St. Last year, more than 140 people attended and this year’s prom should be even bigger.

Prime yourself for a semi-formal event complete with decorations, dancing, light hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, raffles, photographer and cash bar. This is an all-inclusive party—all ages welcome. Tickets are $15 each, or $25 for two people.

The prom is a fund-raiser for building improvement. MCC-Omaha, 819 S. 22nd St., is a beautiful and historic building, but maintenance and needed renovations continue to make fund-raising a necessity.

This year’s theme is “Dancing in the Moonlight.” For information on how you can help or for ticket information, call Susie Brenner at 578-7291 or Cheryl Arends at 341-6565.
